ILOILO CITY, July 11 (PSA) -- The provincial offices of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in Guimaras and Iloilo have started the enumeration for the first round of the 2019 Labor Force Survey (LFS), a quarterly survey for households, this July.
A total of 37 hired enumerators and PSA personnel are currently making rounds to collect data from 932 sample households in identified enumeration areas in the city of Iloilo and the two provinces.
PSA-Guimaras chief statistical specialist Nelida Losare said data collected would be significant as it will serve as basis for the formulation of policies and programs on the creation and generation of gainful employment and livelihood opportunities; reduction of unemployment and underemployment; and enhancement of the welfare of a working person.
She said the 2019 LFS also contains rider questionnaires on Annual Poverty Indicator Survey (APIS), Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) and Access to Government Services (AGS).
APIS aims to gather data on the socio-economic profile of families and other information that are related to their living conditions, specifically generating indicators that are correlated with poverty in order to determine the percent distribution of families.
The PCC prohibits anti-competitive agreements; abuses of dominant position; and anti-competitive mergers and acquisitions. Sound and efficient market regulation by the PCC will result in markets that foster innovation, global competitiveness, and enhanced consumer choice, thereby improving public welfare.
On the other hand, AGS will serve as a monitoring system for corruption in all types of government unit.
The PSA surveys will run until the end of July this year. (JBG/laf/PIA)
