Lazio, Inter finish season with victories

ROME, June 4 (Xinhua) -- Lazio concluded the 2022-2023 Serie A season as the runners-up as they sailed away with a 2-0 victory over Empoli in the last round on Saturday, while Inter sealed the third-place after edging past Torino 1-0.

After a goalless first half, Lazio broke the deadlock straight after the break as center-back Alessio Romagnoli steered his header into the net on Luis Alberto's corner.

Empoli were one player down in the 89th minute when Nicolo Cambiaghi saw his second yellow card after a foul on Mattia Zaccagni, before Alberto sealed the win by hitting in a first-time volley out of the box.

After the win, Lazio capped off the season with 74 points, two points ahead of Inter.

With the upcoming Champions League final against Manchester City on June 10, Inter rotated the starting line-up and got the better of Torino through Marcelo Brozovic's stunner.

Elsewhere, Cremonese who were doomed to be relegated said goodbye to the top flight with a rare 2-0 victory over Salernitana.
