Danny Musovski tallied twice as the Seattle Sounders cruised to a 4-0 victory against the Los Angeles Galaxy on Sunday night in Carson, Calif.
The Sounders (11-6-8, 41 points) extended their unbeaten streak to seven matches in MLS play (4-0-3) since competing in the FIFA Club World Cup.
Sounders goalkeeper Andrew Thomas, filling in for the injured Stefan Frei (concussion), made three saves in posting the shutout.
The Sounders opened the scoring in the 25th minute. Pedro de la Vega sent a cross from the left wing to the far post. A hard-charging Paul Rothrock got a foot on the ball before it glanced off falling Galaxy defender Julian Aude and into the net.
Seattle doubled its advantage in the 37th minute. Rothrock played a low through ball to Musovski in the penalty area. Los Angeles goalkeeper Novak Micovic made a diving save on Musovski's original 12-yard shot, but the forward pounced on the rebound and poked it into the net from the top of the 6-yard box.
The Galaxy (3-15-7, 16 points), who failed to put a shot on net in the first half, had two chances in the opening five minutes of the second, but Thomas made a diving stop against Matheus Nascimento and a routine save versus Gabriel Pec.
The Sounders essentially put the match away in the 54th minute. Cristian Roldan played a pass to de la Vega at the top left of the penalty area and he re-routed the ball to Jesus Ferreira for a 12-yard shot that Micovic stopped with a diving save. Musovski was alone at the top of the 6-yard box to tap the rebound into a gaping net.
Snyder Brunell, an 18-year-old making his MLS debut, scored in the 85th minute on an 8-yard shot off a cross from Alex Roldan.
The Sounders were without their leading scorer, midfielder Albert Rusnak (10 goals, seven assists in MLS play) because of a hamstring injury suffered Wednesday in a Leagues Cup match against Club Tijuana.
