The Chicago Fire FC and midfielder Kellyn Acosta agreed to terminate his contract, the MLS club announced on Wednesday.
Acosta, 30, recorded three goals and three assists in 53 matches (33 starts) during his two seasons with Chicago.
'We thank Kellyn for his contributions to Chicago both on and off the field,' Fire director of football and head coach Gregg Berhalter said. 'His leadership and experience helped to guide the Fire into this new era, and this move allows him to continue his career at a high level while pursuing a new challenge.'
Acosta has totaled 21 goals and 28 assists in 305 career MLS appearances (245 starts) with FC Dallas, the Colorado Rapids, Los Angeles FC and Fire.
He also represented the United States Men's National Team, including during in its run in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He has two goals and five assists in 58 appearances for the USMNT.
